Central America is only a few hours flight from the US and boasts a huge variety of geography, plant, animal and bird life. Hosting a large part of that abundance is the beautiful little country of Costa Rica.

The land is very diverse with tropical rainforests, active volcanoes, white sand beaches and windswept mountain tops. The country’s bird population includes over 850 species of birds. Far more than in all of North America combined with more than 50 species of Hummingbirds, along with the very rare Resplendant Quetzl (whose feathers adorned the headdress of Montezuma), the Harpy Eagle, largest of all eagles, the delightful Tucan, and the Blue and Gold Macaw.

Over 200 Mammals of the most interesting and perplexing sort are found here including the Three Toed Sloth, the Cotomundi, Aguti, Armadillo, Jaguas, Ocelot and Tapir.

Reptiles are unique here too. With large Iguanas everywhere along the coastal areas, brightly colored Poison Arrow Frogs and the Basilik Lizard which is otherwise known as the “Jesus Christ Lizard” because of their ability to run across water. There's also the Marine Toad which weighs nearly three pounds! Large Crocodiles can be seen along the riverbanks basking in the sun and enjoying the soft mud beneath their bellies. Sea Turtles lay their eggs on the beaches. Not to mention over 1000 species of butterflies!

And all this is protected by the best conservation program in Latin America. The country is very stable place to visit with no standing army since 1947 and free elections dating back to the 19th century.

Our multi-adventure tour of Costa Rica is designed to allow us to explore a variety of ecosystems so we can observe most of the varied flora and fauna this unique place contains. At the same time we will be doing varied and interesting activities in these areas. River Rafting, Horseback Riding, Cloud Forest Interpretive Tours, Swimming, Snorkeling, Beachcombing, Boogie Boarding, Viewing an Active Volcano, Visiting Hot Springs and a Butterfly Farm; All the while staying in cozy little cottages…

All in nine days!
